HayWire · Week of July 27, 2026 · USDA AMS · 216 records · 37 regions
§01  The 60-Second Read

The 8-market benchmark slipped to $174.44 a ton, down $1.00 week over week, a small move that gives buyers a slight edge. But that average hides the action: Dakota SD Mon jumped to $212.46, up $35.78, and Nebraska Platte Valley hit $200.00, up $65.00. Where you buy matters more than the headline this week.

§04  The Read

The benchmark softened a touch while several Northern Plains markets firmed sharply. That split points to local strength, not a broad shift. Nebraska, Kansas, and Montana all report very good demand against moderate-to-good supply, which is where prices are pushing hardest right now.
